Prof. Avshalom Elitzur – The Puzzle of the Dream in Modern Psychology
When we dream, on the one hand, there is a decrease in our mental powers, because our reality tester fades. Some of the things we say in our dreams or, worse, actually do, would lead us straight to hospitalization in a closed ward. On the other hand, the dream is wise in a strange way because it speaks the language of the artist, the poet and the inventor. This lecture reviews sleep and dream research up to the present day and expands on its importance for mental health.
Prof. Avshalom Elitzur researches diverse topics spanning over quantum mechanics, relativity, thermodynamics, evolutionary biology, psychoanalysis and philosophy of mind.
